I am so excited to join Plentiful! For the last 20+ years, Occupational Therapy has been my career, most of which I’ve spent working with people who are recovering from strokes. I have been wanting to change things up a bit and thinking about what that might look like for the last few years.
During my time at James Madison University, I worked in several restaurants and did some catering as well. I learned quite a bit about wine, the value in making things from scratch and how to help customers have a great experience while working at Hank’s Grill and Catering. Because the restaurant was located at the base of Massanuttin Mountain, many of the patrons were on vacation at the resort. I always enjoyed helping them have a great experience through food and service. At one point, I even considered a degree in hospitality and tourism management.
Years later, during the pandemic, I discovered my own love for cooking and baking. I love to prepare from scratch meals for my family. After nearly mastering the chocolate chip cookie, my husband asked me if I would provide baked cookies in individual packaging for his customers every Friday. Baking and packaging several dozen cookies became my regular Thursday routine during the COVID years. We also ate way too many cookies!
Through my connection with Annhorner at Third Church, I learned about Plentiful. I am so impressed with the level of care and excellence Annhorner brings to her profession. I am so excited to be a part of the amazing experiences the Plentiful team is creating for people.
Fun Fact: I put in an ornamental pond (complete with goldfish, tadpoles, water plants, a small water feature and rocks) in our backyard all by myself! I have always wanted one since I was a little girl. I think I must have been inspired by the Japanese Garden at Maymont. It is super fun for my family and I to see my little fish and frogs thriving in their ecosystem.
